Before launching my online store in 2004, I managed intranet and extranet projects and trained users with a Fortune 500 company. My clients included everyone from computer novices to people with advanced engineering degrees. This experience made me sensitive to keeping designs simple, intuitive and tailored to the audience.
As a full-time online merchant and small business owner, I know how painful it is to get that phone call from a customer who can't figure out how to use your site -- and also how great it feels when a new customer discovers you online. Whether your website is a communication platform or an online store, it should to be easy to manage and appealing to your intended audience.
I have been writing and designing print and electronic communications for most of my adult life. In fact, my first exposure to typography was pre-PC -- black rub-off letters on blue graph paper. I fell in love with desktop publishing with the Mac SE in 1987. I created my first website in 1996.
My favorite tools right now are WordPress, Joomla and Interspire Shopping Cart. I also have experience with OsCommerce-based shopping carts, eBay and eBay Stores. I am evaluating new software all the time. Programs come and go, but experience has taught me how to quickly evaluate, learn and teach new systems.
I have an English degree and an MBA from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could! I am a member of the Whitewright Area Chamber of Commerce, Van Alstyne Chamber of Commerce, Texas Farm Bureau and Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association.
My office is in Van Alstyne, a town of about 2500 people. By helping local businesses and organizations succeed, I feel like I am having an impact on the tax base and quality of life here.
So, what is the deal with "Sheep Boutique?" Keeping sheep is an important part of my life, and I thought the name was cute and memorable. The lamb in the logo is inspired by one of our favorite show lambs, Malia.
